What to Know Before You Arrive
Orientation Sessions
As you prepare for your Orientation session, we have some important information for you to review. In early spring you will receive an Orientation Information Brochure in the mail. Please make sure to review thoroughly before coming to campus. It is also important to bring with you to your Orientation session.
What to Bring
- Look for Orientation Information Brochure coming in the mail to you
- Be sure to register for orientation. Reserve your space now!
- Look up your Gateway ID. This will serve as your e-mail address and identification for all computing resources on campus.
- UMSL Student ID# (8 digit number)
- College transcripts , advanced credit/ AP scores, for any dual credit courses
- Disability documentation if seeking accommodations
- Prepare to take a picture for your Triton One Card (UMSL ID)
- You must bring a form of photo ID (valid driver's license, state ID, passport) with you to obtain your Triton One Card
- Casual clothing for 90° to 100° weather
- Comfortable shoes
- Sweater (for air-conditioned rooms)
- No. 2 pencil for placement tests
- Cash or check for testing, souvenirs, textbooks, and post office box rental if a non-resident
Parking for Orientation
You may park your car in LOT E during the NSO and TT programs. You will not need a parking pass for this day. Please look for additional signage to assist with navigation around campus.

Lodging
UMSL On-Campus Lodging:
Limited on-campus lodging is available in Oak Hall. The cost is $25/night/person. Bedding and linens are provided. To reserve a space in Oak Hall during your stay for NSO please call 314-516-4399 or visit www.umsl.edu/orientation (click on the <<NSO Lodging>> link).
Off Campus Lodging:
UMSL has special rates available at the Hilton Garden Inn, located approximately 5 minutes by car. The rate is $109 and reservations can be made by calling (314)521-6444 and asking for the UMSL rate or visit www.umsl.edu/orientation (click on the <<NSO Lodging>> link).

Meals at Orientation
UMSL Catering will prepare two meals for Orientation participants: Breakfast and Lunch
There will be a wide variety of entrees and side orders at each meal. Vegetarian options will be available to those who indicate that preference when registering for orientation. If you have other dietary needs, please note these in the accommodations section of your registration.
